How much space do we leave for God in our hearts. Do we say to Him “You can have that corner of my heart and I will fill the rest with other things”. Scripture says that Christ is in us. Therefor if your mind ought to be controlled by the Spirit, you ought to give control over to Him. Not to worry about anything that will happen.
In the book of 2 Corinthians 13:5, Paul speaks about the believer that needs to examine his or her heart. To see if you have faith in Christ. If you believe that Christ is in you. BUT he also writes that there is a possibility that we can fail the test by not believing that Christ lives in us. We can know Christ, but it doesn’t say that we believe that He lives in us.
Ephesians 3:17 talks about Christ that dwells in our hearts through us displaying our faith in Him. By our faith we are rooted and grounded in love which refers to being rooted in Christ. If we are rooted in Christ He is also rooted in us and there is no other things in our hearts than Him alone.
Lastly Revelation 3:20 speaks about we opening the door of our hearts to Christ. Now that may see simple but have we really given our whole heart to God? “I surrender all” That is quite a bold statement to make. Giving all to God means trusting in His works and not your own. Letting Him come and dine with us in our hearts means that we are contentment. Paul says in one of His letters that “godliness with contentment is great gain.” If we are content with Christ, we won’t allow other things to stain our hearts.
